Chapter 16: Your Life System Prompt
Large language models have system prompts.
A system prompt defines role, principles, boundaries, and behavior.
People need something similar.
Not as a slogan, but as a reminder of how we want to run when noise gets loud.
Why You Need Operating Principles
Principles are easy when you are calm.
They matter when you are not.
When you are anxious.
When comparison hits.
When someone dismisses you.
When someone else succeeds fast.
When you want to return to an old pattern.
Without a deeper prompt, the current emotion may take over.
A Simple Life System Prompt
I am a long-term person.
I do not chase short-term emotional victory. I care about long-term system improvement.
I choose high-quality input, move closer to honest and capable people, and reduce contact with relationships that repeatedly drain me.
I learn through reading, calibrate through practice, and update through review.
When I fail, I inspect context and system before attacking myself.
Each day, I do at least one thing that benefits my future self.
This is not magic.
It will not act for you.
But it gives you a place to return when the old context pulls.
